Today i found a really facinating video about how to draw a cartoon dog. Its the basic of all virtual dog sites.

Even if you are not an expert of drawing you can try to make drawings like this.

Looks easy, right? Well its not. Just check out the virtual dog page i mentioned before, it has a nice drawing of a cartoon dog on the top of the page.

Virtualbark is the best virtual pet game around, start playing now! I got 10 dogs there and i visit the page every day. Though not all the pictures are cartoon style, I still love them.

It’s an iteresting topic, i try to find out, why can people like me get addict with virtual pet games. Blizzard, a game creator company says: “The graphics doesn’t matter, only the feeling when you play a game”. But in a browser game its hard to create a nice feeling without great graphics. Most of these online games doesn’t have sounds, so your ears remain hungry. You cannot touch the virtual pet you’re playing with, so the only thing what remains is the graphics.

I’m not talking about Flash and video and so on, just some nice kind of graphics, what your willing to watch for hours, if the game is good. I myself prefer nicely drawn cartoons, but i hate if they move and flash and blinks. Somehow it annoys me. I think developers shoud find the “just enought” amount of graphics.

Today I set up a voting system, so i want to know what you’re thinking about virtual pet games and their graphics.

What kind of graphics do you want in a virtual pet game?

Hy everyone!

virtual dogToday I decided to blog about popular games called virtual pet sites, i’m especially interested in virtual dog or someone may call it virtual puppy sites. I try to focus on social part of these so called browser games. I hope you will enjoy it, if you got any questions, feel free to comment on the blog.

First things first, what is a virtual pet?

Wikipedia comes up with this definition:

Virtual petsites or bbmmo’s (Browser Based MMO’s) are usually free to play and accessible to all who sign up. They can be accessed through web browsers and often include a virtual community, Neopia in Neopets, Ettaworld in Ettapets, Wytheria on Wytheria: The Mystic Island or tiki village in MrTiki. In these worlds, you can play games to earn virtual money; which is usually spent on items and food for your pets.

Some sites adopt out pets to put on your webpage and use for roleplaying in chat rooms. They often require the adoptee to have a page ready for their pet. Sometimes they have a setup for breeding one’s pets and then adopting them out.

Other sites that adopt out pets to put on a webpage are centered around writing for and breeding said pets to create newer, often ’showier’ creatures. Members are often encouraged to create their own species of draconic creatures, to adopt from other members, and to breed the various species together. Unlike with some adoption agencies for webpage based cyberpets, where the owner of the species is the only one that can breed said species, the Nexus encourages all of its members to share and interbreed their species together, and the resulting offspring are usually adopted out to story-based or stats page-based web-pages.

Some games also allow users to breed a pet for combat against other players.

But do they replace real pets?

Don’t think so. They are just cute little animals on your screen. You can feed them, teach them and have fun with endless of options these sites gives to you. Also they are great if you are looking for friends, most of the teenagers have tried one of these virtual pet games once. The chat opportunity is also remarkable, you visit a certain site (for example a virtual dog site) because you got some feelings about dogs. You like them well. Others, who also like dogs visit the same site. So you instantly got a topic to talk about: dogs

Which site do i recommend to start with?

If you really want a virtual dog, try Virtualbark, it has nice graphics and a big community.
